Today we introduce you to Miss Joy! Joy Wimberly MA, BCBA, LBA is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Tell us about your family.
I grew up in Homewood, AL & have 1 older sister & 1 twin sister. People always say I look more like my older sister. My twin & I are polar opposites. She is an Occupational Therapist who specializes in Geriatrics and I specialize in kids.
Do you have any hobbies or interests?
Crossfit, my 3 pound Chihuahua, & going to the movies (especially Vestavia AMC for their heated reclining seats).

Where did/do you go to school?
I attended undergrad at The University of North Alabama where I studied Psychology. I got my masters in School Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi and finished up my BACB coursework at The Florida Institute of Technology.
What made you want to be an BCBA/BCaBA/RBT?
I did my undergrad internship at a ABA clinic and remember observing a client with autism mand for “Roll Tide” and it melted my heart. I also was introduced to ABA courses in undergrad and was fascinated by the science.
What’s your favorite aspect of being a BCBA/BCaBA/RBT?
The variability of roles I can serve my clients. I get to with kids as well as supervise BCaBAs/RBTs, and provide training to families/schools/communities.
What are your favorite resources for learning more about behavior analysis and/or Autism?
Autism Speaks does a great job explaining ABA techniques in parent friendly language.
What’s the one thing you wish parents knew about behavior analysis?
Consistency is key when it comes to behavior, utilize us as a resource so we can generalize skills learned at SBH to home/school/community.
